A SEWER CONNECTION DESIGN FOR A BLENHEIM HOME

An established Blenheim home relied on an ageing septic tank and soakage field, with a public sewer now available nearby. The homeowner needed a practical replacement solution.

The existing system showed signs of stress and there was limited space for a compliant replacement land application area. We assessed a public sewer connection as an alternative to installing another onsite system.

RISEN reviewed the site, Council records and available service information, then completed a topographic survey to confirm whether a gravity sewer connection was achievable.

A route was developed through the property and road corridor, allowing for existing stormwater, power and communications services. The design specified a 100 mm private sewer lateral to the public main, with construction notes, reinstatement requirements and provisions for decommissioning the septic system.

RISEN reviewed contractor pricing, comparing the proposed scope, construction approach and overall value. This helped the homeowner understand the work involved and make an informed decision before construction.
